I walked away from religion. Over time, I stopped seeing it as a source of truth. I started seeing it as a tool for control. As I looked more into how organized religion operates, it became obvious. Often, it isn’t about faith or personal growth. It’s about keeping people in line.
Rules that don’t always make sense reflect a fear of punishment. They promise rewards after death while discouraging people from questioning authority in life. These patterns are everywhere in religious systems. And once you start asking hard questions, the answers usually lead back to maintaining power, not inspiring understanding.
For me, believing in something just because it’s tradition or because someone in authority says so isn’t enough. I want to think for myself. I want to ask uncomfortable questions. I aim to make choices based on reason and compassion. I refuse to base them on fear or control.
